PHASE-2 OF INTEGRAL CENTRE’S INAUGURATION
Since its foundation by family members of people with disabilities in the local rural area in 2002, the TAS Foundation has pursued the construction of an integral centre competent enough in order to offer a wide variety of services with the goal of taking care of people with different types and degrees of disabilities from all over the region. The building would host a day car unit, an occupational centre, training rooms, a residential care home for people with disabilities, physical rehabilitation and hydrotherapy services, a special employment centre…
This ambitious project has been progressing slowly but surely, 50% of the 2,000 m2 building is already operational thanks to the collaboration of Junta de Andalucía —public administration, our patron’s town councils, bank social works, companies, hermandades (religious and cultural brotherhoods) in the area and a multitude of micro-donor “TAS’ friends”.
Yesterday, 26th January 2022, Phase II of the Integral Centre in Brenes was inaugurated by the Vice President of Junta de Andalucía—Mr. Juan Marín, the Councillor for Equality, Social Policies and Conciliation—Ms. Rocío Ruiz, the President of Fundación TAS—Mr. Antonio Campos, a representation of the entities composing the board of trustees of the Tas Foundation and collaborating companies and private entities.
This phase houses the offices of the central services of the TAS Foundation—previously located in the Civic Centre of the Town Hall of Brenes, a room for labour integration training, a multi-sensory room, a large dining room with an open-plan kitchen, a living room and several bathrooms.
With this extension, we have increased La Vega Day Care Unit by ten more places, which means thirty accredited places and twenty semi-state run ones.
The special heed of the needs of people with disabilities in rural areas is our request to all institutional representatives encouraging that ongoing support received so far, which may allow our dream’s achievement: the completion of the integral centre. Likewise, we have applied for the extension of the places’ agreement in the Day Care Unit “La Vega” with the goal of starting to work with the children who are on the waiting list.
